Kindergarten at St. John School

A Place to Belong. A Place to Lead.

At St. John School, children are known, supported, and inspired from their very first day. Our Kindergarten program blends strong academics, faith-filled learning, and meaningful relationships to help every child grow with confidence.

Kindergarten Faith-Based Education

Faith at the Heart of Learning

Faith guides our learning and shapes our community. At St. John School, students grow in kindness, compassion, and responsibility while developing a strong moral foundation.

Rooted in Catholic values, we help children understand the importance of caring for others and becoming thoughtful leaders in their school and community. Families of all faiths are warmly welcomed into our close-knit school family.

What It Means to Be a Kindergartener at St. John School

Being a Kindergartener at St. John means belonging to a family where your child strengthens their communication and problem-solving skills, sense of wonder, and passion for caring for others.

Through play-based learning, students become scientists, explorers, artists, builders, and so much more. Every day is filled with discovery, creativity, and meaningful connections between education and fun.

Each classroom is led by a caring Teacher and Early Childhood Educator (ECE) team who guide learning with encouragement and intention.

We combine high expectations with care and guidance, creating an environment where students are challenged and inspired to become the very best version of themselves.

Close Relationships

Culture, Connection & Student Wellbeing

St. John School values culture and connection. Students have opportunities to learn Ojibway language and participate in Northern Studies, deepening their understanding of community and place.

Our First Nation Life Skills Coach and Student Wellbeing Coaches support the whole child, academically, socially, and emotionally, ensuring every student feels safe, supported, and ready to learn.

Close Knit Community

A Close-Knit Community That Feels Like Family

Families often say St. John feels like home. Strong relationships between staff and families create a welcoming environment where every child is seen, supported, and encouraged.

Here, students grow in confidence, leadership, and faith, surrounded by a team that truly cares.

What it means to be a Kindergarten STudent

A Buddy System That Builds Belonging

At St. John School, no child walks their journey alone. Our strong buddy system connects Kindergarten students with older peers who help guide the way.

Through cross-grade activities, shared learning experiences, and special school events, younger students build friendships with older role models who offer encouragement, kindness, and support.

These meaningful connections help Kindergarten students feel safe and confident, while older students grow as leaders and mentors. It’s one more way we nurture a caring community where everyone belongs.
